AT&T unveils Mobile Share, lets you add 10 devices to a single plan — Engadget

We knew it was coming and even Ralph de la Vega himself publicly admitted that it was in the pipeline, but today AT&T has whipped the covers from its new shared data plans. Mobile Share will enable customers to use a single data allocation across all of their devices, with unlimited calls and text. You’re entitled to use up to 10 devices on a single plan, of which at least one must be a smartphone. Users can pick how much data they expect to use each month, paying an additional levy to add the rest of their family’s handsets (or just your own, if you’re Steve Wozniak). Fortunately, tethering is included as part of the plans.

iPad prototype renderings from early-2000s revealed in Apple / Samsung court filings updated — Engadget

Its a strange bit of history that the concept of an Apple tablet led to what we know as the first iPhone. Its a fact that Steve Jobs made mention of back in 2010, at an appearance at All Things D, realizing that Apple was capable of building a handset based on the technology it pieced together for a multitouch display. Now, thanks to Apple / Samsung court filings you know that whole little kerfuffle between the companies and digging by the folks at NetworkWorld, some early concepts for an Apple slate have come to light. The dates of the mockups are a little nebulous at the moment, but during his deposition, Jonathan Ive, puts them at somewhere between 2002 and 2004. Check a few more angles and a stiff case usage in the gallery below.

Guy Gets So Mad With Internet Service Provider He Breaks Into the Company Wielding an Axe

I’ve had my share of frustrating episodes with Internet Service Providers, but never to the point of hacking into their servers three times in one day, deleting data, walking into their office wielding an axe and threatening the owner with it. That’s what Bryce Kingsley Quilley did.

Scientists Plan to Block the Sun Using Man-Made Clouds

Scientists Plan to Block the Sun Using Man-Made Clouds

The planet is hot and getting hotter. But while most plans to use geoengineering to alter the weather have been rather hypothetical, now a pair of Harvard engineers have announced that they intend to spray thousands of tons of particles into the sky to block the suns rays—within the coming year. The pair plan to launch a balloon to ascend 80,000 feet over Fort Sumner, New Mexico, before pumping out tens or hundreds of kilograms of sulphate aerosols into the sky. The idea is that the particles will reflect sunlight back into space, helping decrease the temperature of the Earth.

Show Your Mood: Necomimi Brainwave Controlled Cat Ears Tech Test Lab Review | Apartment Therapy

Animal hats have been something of a trend over the last year or so. Those of you who love those, or just enjoy dressing up as a cute character, will be interested in Necomimi. These brainwave controlled cat ears, created by a team comprised of an anthropologist, media artist, designer, producer, and neuroscientist, can detect your mood and express it through motion. Intrigued, we decided to try a pair on for ourselves.

Assembly Minor assembly is required to get Necomimi working. First I had to unscrew the battery door. You dont need a screwdriver — a coin will work. The Necomimi requires four triple A batteries. Screw the battery door back in and fit the furry cat ears over the motors on the headset.

The Original Logos of Tech Companies Were All Terrible

A lot of the giant technology brands and companies you know and love today didn’t look anything like they do now when they first started. Just look at their original logos: almost always butt ugly, but slowly grew into what they are now. Here are the humblest beginnings for all to see:

The fine folks at Stock Logos compared famous logos with their original forms, and it’s hilarious to see how unrecognizable they all are now. They’re universally awful. Who gave the okay on some of these? Were they made as a joke? See for yourself below.

Props Keeps Your Headphones Untangled and in Place Whether You’re Using Them or Not

If you’re a frequent user of earbuds, you often have yours with you but aren’t necessarily wearing them all of the time. You may need to take them out to interact with another person or just because you want a break from listening to your music. When that happens, you have to solve the problem of where to put those earphones. Props solves that problem for you.

Props is essentially a string with two grips on each end that you wear around your neck. Your earbuds then attach to the grips and are held in place when not in use. If you want to put them on, Props adjusts so it doesn’t get in the way but can still hold on to your headphones. My product-free solution has always been to toss my earbuds around the back of my neck so they’d stay put, but they’d sometimes fall off and generally end up a little tangled when I decided to put them back on. Props looks like a more elegant solution to the problem, if you’re willing to pay a small fee to solve that problem.
