The big list of iOS 6 features | iMore

At WWDC, Apple proclaimed iOS 6 would introduce over 200 new features when released this fall, and that what we saw yesterday was just a small sampling. We’ve got plenty of posts going over the big features, but there are also a handful of slides that were positively riddled with features that they just didn’t have time to go over.

Additionally, there were lots of smaller features that either just got a passing mention, were folded into some of the talk about OS X, or weren’t referenced at all. That said, let’s tear apart the keynote address (which was recently made available in HD on iTunes, by the way) and pick out every teeny tiny iOS 6 feature we can.

We’re going to keep a running tally here, and update it as more information becomes available, so check back often!

Verizon announces ShareEverything plan – unlimited talk, text and shared data for up to 10 devices | iMore

Verizon has announced a new family plan that includes a shared data bucket for households chocked-full of iPhones and iPads. Each smartphone can be added to the plan for $40 which includes unlimited talk and text while tablets cost $10. On top of that, youll have to pay for the data you want to share.1GB shared data – $502GB shared data – $604GB shared data – $706GB shared data – $808GB shared data – $9010GB shared data – $100The plan also unlocks mobile hotspot access for all devices on the plan, so you can chew through your data allowance even faster. If you have a new iPad with LTE, youre going to be burning through data quickly enough as is; how long is it going to last if youre splitting your bucket with the rest of the family? Of course, if everybody only uses data sparingly, then maybe its not that big of a deal, but at that point, you might as well be using a cheaper shared plan.

New York Daily News Uses Cuban Flag On Puerto Rican Day Parade

When boricuas gather in the streets of New York City and sing “Que Bonita Bandera” (Translation: What a Beautiful Flag) at the Puerto Rican Day Parade on Sunday, they probably won’t be singing about the Cuban flag. It seems, however, that the New York Daily News needs some reminding.

On Thursday, the New York publication prominently featured the Cuban flag on a Puerto Rican Day Parade advertisement, behind the image of New York Giants wide receiver, Victor Cruz.

The actual Puerto Rican flag has red and white stripes and a white star inside of a dark blue triangle. The mistake has elicited outrage and a few laughs from the online Latino community.

After the image of the advertisement was posted on Latino Rebels Facebook page, dozens of users weighed in.

“They should be ashamed! I’m Cuban, raised in PR [Puerto Rico] and find this embarrassing… We deserve more respect!” commented Facebook user Osvaldo Perdomo. Alan Alberto Rodriguez asked, “Don’t media companies pay people to check stuff like this before it goes to printing anymore?” And Facebook user Yubal Márquez Fleites wrote under the image,”Hire some more Latinos in marketing and that won’t happen.”

The unfortunate mix-up actually comes a few weeks after a handful of Latino journalists were let go from the company as the Daily News‘ Spanish-language publication, Hora Hispana, was phased out. Journalist Maite Junco, editor Rodolfo Quebleen, and sales representative Jose Santiago were all let go when the Daily Newspulled the plug on Hora Hispana, according to CapitalNewYork.com.

As of publishing, the Daily News had not yet released a correction on their website.

This Is the Future of Medical Imaging

Forget x-rays, bin the ultrasound, and say goodbye to MRI as you know it. The future of medical imaging is on its way, and it will give doctors a startlingly realistic view of whats happening inside your body.In fact, the idea of throwing out those existing imaging technologies might be a little premature, because the future will rely on all of them. The idea, you see, is to develop new ways to combine the huge quantities of data they all provide into ultra-realistic images. While thats already possible to an extent, the rapid development of computational power means that theyre going to become ever more life-like.

LinkedIn Password Hack: Check To See If Yours Was One Of The 6.5 Million Leaked

LinkedIn user data was jeopardized Wednesday when reports surfaced that 6.5 million passwords were leaked and posted on a Russian hacker site. Websites offering a LinkedIn password hack check like LeakedIn quickly popped up so users could find out if their password was one of the 6.5 million — or more — leaked.Dont fret, all may not be lost if youre one of the many who use the same password or a variant for your email and social networking logins. LeakedIn and LastPass, which also features a LinkedIn password check tool, enable users to check if their password was leaked. The sites change their LinkedIn password to a SHA-1 hash, which is then automatically compared to the 6.5 million-password database to determine if the password was hacked.

Look Up! Do Ho Suhs “Fallen Star” | Apartment Therapy

When it comes to public art, few schools do it as well as the University of California, San Diego. Maybe Im biased because I went there, but UCSDs Stuart Collection, which dots the entire campus, is seriously top-notch. The latest addition, officially opening today, is “Fallen Star” by South Korean artist Do Ho Suh. And yes, its a house hanging off the edge of a seven-story building. For Suh, who moved to the U.S. to attend the Rhode Island School of Design, followed by graduate studies at Yale, the installation references his feelings of displacement, both domestic and cultural.”When you see a fallen star, it means that it fell from the sky from a different universe,” the artist explained to me last year in an interview. “Its something thats very out of context.”

Architizer Blog » Reclaiming the Water Tower as Public Art

The 10,000 or so watertowers sprinkled throughout New York are strange objects, instantly recognizable and reassuringly familiar, yet relics of an old and utterly foreign industrial spirit that vacated the city (or at least, most of it boroughs) long ago. Nowadays, the stubby cylindrical containers have become fashionable as mediums for artistic interventions, which seize on both the watertower’s bluntly honest materiality (see the Watertower chair, fabricated from the shell of a dismantled tank) and its latent potential to transverse time and even functionality, for that matter (see the Water Tank project featuring designs from a diverse casts of artists and characters alike, from Ed Ruscha to Jay-Z, or the transformation of the city’s useless infrastructure into art).

The latest in the trend is artist Tom Fruin‘s imaginatively transparent and colorful “Watertower” project, which he recently installed on a DUMBO rooftop. The piece, which opens this Thursday, June 7, maintains the proportions and size of a typical water tank, but has been rendered a glass tapestry of salvaged materials. Visible from Lower Manhattan, the sculpture is a De-Stijlesque jigsaw of upwards 1,000 polychromatic fragments of discarded and recycled Plexiglas Fruin collected from building sites all over the city. During the day, the sun sets the watertower ablaze, while at night, projection designer Jeff Sugg will illuminate the structure with a lightshow boogie woogie planned to play every nightfall throughout the year.

Agenda Calendar for iPhone and iPad review | iMore

Agenda is a beautiful alternative to the iPhone and iPad’s built-in Calendar app by the great folks at App Savvy. In addition to performing the normal tasks you’d expect any good calendar app to do, Agenda also lets you confirm appointments via text message or email from directly within the app. Similarly, you can inform necessary parties if you’re going to be late.
