E-readers may not be good enough for Princetons hallowed halls, but students and professors at Oklahoma State University seem to have fallen head over heels for their iPads. Last fall, the school introduced the tablets in a handful of lecture halls and classrooms, as part of its iPad Pilot Program. Teachers involved in the study said they benefited from all the educational software available on Apples App Store, while students appreciated not having to spend their life savings on traditional textbooks. At the end of the pilot program, a full 75-percent of collegians said the iPad “greatly enhanced” their classroom experience, though were guessing that much of that enhancement came from their newfound ability to check TweetDeck between lecture notes. Opinion was noticeably more divided, however, on the devices value as an e-reader. Some enjoyed having all their books in one place, whereas others were a bit disappointed with the experience, saying they didnt use it to read as often as they expected to. Our former undergrad-slacker selves can totally relate. Video and PR await you, after the break.

The last time this happened it was during the first Gulf War two decades ago, so I got all giddy when I learned that someone actually had to shout “stop the presses” last night at the New York Times. This is what happened, according to their Vice President of Corporate Communications, Eileen Murphy:The news broke really late, and by that time we were already in the middle of the printing run. There was some discussion and because of the magnitude of the news, the order was given to stop the presses. Its been a long time since anyone can remember a run being stopped, papers being thrown out, and then a new run starting up.The already printed front pages were destroyed and, at 12:45am, they started to produce the new version. Anthony Trang is probably one of the unluckiest thieves youll find. He stole about $2,300 worth of car audio equipment from a girls car and a few hours later, brought it to a car audio equipment store to get it installed to his car. The problem? The guy he brought it to, Eric Ford, was the boyfriend of the girl Trang stole it from. Um, yeah. Trang was promptly arrested.Trang gutted the girls car of nearly everything he could put his hands on! He stole a high end Clarion NX501 deck, a Massive Audio 5-by-7-inch amplifier, the subwoofer, three iPods, and even 30 quarters from the change box. No mercy. Ford thought the Clarion NX501 would pop up again he assumes theres only a few in Lincoln, Nebraska but he didnt expect it to be plopped right in front of his face a few hours later.
