How Many Wears Before You Need to Wash

We all wash our clothes to keep ourselves and our clothes smelling so fresh and oh-so-clean, but there is such a thing as too much washing and too little. There are downsides to both extremes: laundering your clothes more than you need to can shorten their lifespan and wear them out quickly, but washing too rarely can be unhygienic and cause a lot of icky bacteria growth. Heres a general guide to follow:Bras: After three to four wears.Underwear: After every wear.Socks and stockings: One to two wears.Sportswear and swimwear: After every wear.Jeans: Five to six wears. Although there are some that advocate washing as little as possible. In fact, the director of brand concepts and special projects for Levi Strauss & Co. washes his once every six months.Tops: One to two wears.Dresses: One to two wears.Leggings: One to two wears.Pants, skirts, and shorts: Three to four wears.Jackets and blazers: Five to six wears.Coats: Once every two months of wear.PJs: Three to four wears.Of course, this guide doesnt apply to the days when excessive sweating or accidental spills happen, and to those who have different hygiene preferences.

The Science of Snoozing [VIDEO]

Feeling a little groggy? Droopy? Dopey? Sleepy? Another ‘Seven Dwarfs’ syndrome?

It may not be because you didn’t get enough sleep, but perhaps because you opted for a few extra minutes of it. ASAP Science explains that alarm clocks are really the enemy in the bedroom, because they disrupt your body’s natural rhythms and attempts at rousing you awake.

But some of us don’t have the luxury to wait for the sun to wake us (nor would our bosses appreciate it), so they explain which methods would help us catch more Zs with fewer snooze-button temptations.

Have any tricks at sleeping better? Share them in the comments below.

Disney Star Wars Land? The Force Is Strong With This Plan

In the annals of no-brainers, the concept of an entire Disney theme park devoted to Star Wars ranks pretty highly. So much so that plans were underway even before the Mouse House pounced on Lucasfilm in October 2012.

Now it seems those plans are accelerating — and multiplying.

We already knew Disneyland Paris was set to get a Star Wars Land by 2015; the company’s Imagineers let that one slip back in April 2012. Star Tours in Orlando’s Disney World reopened that same month; bigger, better, not so much about Endor, and with a large enough marketing campaign that you could mistake it for a separate theme park.

Star Tours in Disneyland Tokyo (the only park not under Disney’s direct control) is getting its own retrofit right now, and reopening to a Star Wars-mad Japanese public in May 2013. Right around that time — the thirty-sixth anniversary of the original movie arriving in theaters — Disney World itself will be transformed by a series of costume-filled “Star Wars Weekends,” a tradition that is now in its tenth consecutive year (and was held sporadically over six years before that.)

Now word comes from a forum of Disneyland fans that visitors are getting hit with a multi-question online survey that asks some revealing questions. Such as: “How interested [on a scale of one to 10] would you be in visiting a Star Wars-themed Land at the Disneyland Resort?”

Robot Helps Teach Kids With Autism

Researchers have helped create apps and online platforms to assist children with autism. But one team at Vanderbilt University is introducing something which may have a leg up on capturing kids attention: humanoid robots.Mechanical engineers and autism experts constructed an adaptive system using NAO, a fully-programmable robot. Paired with cameras, sensors and computers, the friendly robot is designed to help children develop basic social learning skills. Check out the video above for more. The system structure, called ARIA Adaptive Robot-Mediated Intervention Architecture, uses the robot to give verbal prompts and gestures to the child to attract their attention. While eye contact is a natural skill for most developing children, those with autism may find it more difficult to maintain with other people and surrounding objects. The teams study found that those with an autism spectrum disorder spent significantly more time looking at the humanoid robot than a typically developing child.

Tallinn Manual defines the legal groundwork for cyberwarfare

The advent of cyberwarfare raises any number of legal quandaries, let alone ethical ones: when its possible to do serious damage without crossing a border or firing a shot, where do you stop? NATOs Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence CCDCOE is publishing the finished version of a non-binding guide, the Tallinn Manual, that could settle at least the legal disputes. For the most part, it demands a measured, one-for-one response and attempts to minimize collateral damage. Digital retaliation is appropriate if the state is a victim of a hacking attack, but bombs and guns should only come into play if virtual combat leads to real casualties. Any attacks should likewise steer clear of civilians, and simply having the capacity or desire for a hacking campaign doesnt make someone a target — there has to be an “imminent” threat to justify a preemptive strike. NATO isnt formally adopting the Tallinn Manual as policy, and its difficult to know whether the organizations member nations or any other country would honor the guidelines when parties on all sides have been pushing the boundaries of cyberwarfare for years. Still, well have to start somewhere if we want to draw a line in the silicon.

Making Salt Water Drinkable Just Got 99 Percent Easier

Access to steady supplies of clean water is getting more and more difficult in the developing world, especially as demand skyrockets. In response, many countries have turned to the sea for potable fluids but existing reverse osmosis plants rely on complicated processes that are expensive and energy-intensive to operate. Good thing, engineers at Lockheed Martin have just announced a newly-developed salt filter that could reduce desalinization energy costs by 99 percent.

Stay safe

caricaturaThere is no 100% way to avoid virus other than staying of the Internet and keeping your PC turned off! However you can increase your chances of staying virus free by keeping your Antivirus/AntiMalware software & your system up to date on a daily basis. This keeps your system patched for the latest (known) vulnerabilities and your AV definitions up to date, and yes set it up to be done automatically because you can forget and one day missed can make a difference. Again, this doesn’t guarantee your PC won’t get infected but it will increase your chances of stating virus free.

Here are some free antivirus/antimalware software if you don’t already have any;

These are just a couple there are many more google it.

P.S. when installing any free software always read every screen to make sure you only install what you want and no extras sneak through. Nothing in life is ever 100% free, so be aware of what you’re installing, they might server up a small amount of ads or every so often give you a pop-up message but they are making money somehow, and if you can’t tell how they are making there money it’s usually because they don’t want you to know. Don’t be paranoid, just be aware. I use plenty of freeware I just read everything first so I know what I’m getting myself into. I don’t endorse any product I just use some more than others.
