Dells XPS Duo 12 Might Have the Best “Laptop” of Any Laptop/Tablet Combination

Over the next few weeks, youre going to hear a lot of noise from manufacturers about how one hybrid product or another gives you all of the benefits of a laptop and a tablet, with no compromises on design. The Dell XPS Duo 12 is one of the few that actually seems to back that up.The Duo is a convertible tablet/laptop that switches from laptop to tablet mode differently from most other hybrids coming out. Its a fully functional touchscreen laptop in its default mode, but you can push the display through its frame, and it swivels all the way around, finally latching itself in place with magnets.

Meet the IDGAF King of the Universe

If, like the man above, you choose to stride along a public beach wearing your basic brown banana-hammock, just do it with the same level of swag. He doesn’t care that his spare tire is gleaming in the late-summer sunshine, nor that his body hair creates a halo around his creatively toned muscles. And he’s obviously down with those sunglasses that were purchased at a Taos gas station sometime during the hazy summer of 1981.

Watch, and be inspired to walk around wearing next-to-nothing and just not give a damn what anyone thinks. Because you’re a man, and you enjoy it. And it’s hot out.

Man Walking and Watching TV at the Same Time Falls Through a Hole

Eoin is a poor guy who was walking while watching TV and juggling multiple things in his hands his phone perhaps? when he fell straight through the floor. Like, literally. A trap door in the ground was left open and he didnt notice until he plunged completely through the hole.Everything is fine with Eoin save for a few sprains here and there ankle and knee, which is sort of miraculous given that he unknowingly spiraled 10 feet down what was presumably an uncomfortable shaft. Heres what the bar said what happened:

Episode 6: The most extreme torture test yet | Always On – CNET

This is the week that the torture test really comes into its own, I think. We decided to toughen up and test the brand-new 11-inch Apple MacBook Air. Yeah, I know. Yikes. But I really want to test portable devices, and the Air is the epitome of portable, is it not?

We’re down to a good rhythm with heat, cold, dropping, and water, and we’re really trying to figure out how to make the wild card tests true to life. So, when three or four viewers tweeted me and told me they had put their MacBook Airs on top of cars and driven away … we had to try it. The result is probably our most chilling piece of gadget video yet.

Shortly before I dropped the Air on its head.

Well, OK, the most chilling part is actually the tidal wave of spilled water that gushes over the Air at the very end. That’s one tough little laptop, but for those of you who have been waiting for some real damage, watch on.

Also in this week’s episode, we have a new correspondent! Two new correspondents, actually — one you probably know, and one you may not (at least not from CNET). Meet Jeff Cannata of the “Totally Rad Show” and other podcasts and projects, who lent us his deadpan style in an unboxing of the amazing (?) Elliptigo. He’ll be doing a full Road Test of the Elliptigo in a coming episode and hopefully much more for Always On.

AllThingsD: iPad Mini to get its own event in October after new iPhone reveal — Engadget

After refreshing its computer range, Apples gearing up for two events for its new phone and tablet hardware, according to sources at AllThingsD. Given the excitement welling up behind its next iPhone, many have noted including Daring Fireballs John Gruber that it would make a whole lot of sense to furnish both the phone and the heavily rumored smaller tablet with individual events — and that is, apparently, whats going to happen. Unfortunately, the anonymous sources werent revealing anything further — Apples yet to confirm that posited September 12th event date, let alone any secondary event. But when it does, be assured that well be there to cover both of them.
