Logitech Zaggmate Case for iPad 2 Has a Bluetooth Keyboard [GALLERY]

If you’re looking for an iPad 2 case, might as well get one that has a keyboard nestled inside. This Logitech Zaggmate Keyboard Case for iPad 2 protects your iPad while offering you a stand and keyboard at the same time.Shipping on April 19, this aluminum case stands up your iPad 2 in either portrait or landscape modes, and its keyboard, rechargeable via USB, pairs up with your iPad via Bluetooth. The best news is, the case and keyboard are a mere .54 inches thin, and that’s not going to add much thickness to your sleek tablet. By the way, if you have an original iPad, Zagg makes a similar case for that, too, with or without the keyboard.Logitech is offering this case with the cooperation of Zagg, also known for its “invisible shield” screen protectors for various devices. According to The Wall Street Journal, this mashup of Logitech and Zagg is the result of agreement the two companies made recently, where Logitech will be marketing, manufacturing and distributing the case, while Zagg retains the right to sell it on its website. At its retail price of $100, there are certainly lots of cheaper stands — and even aluminum cases such as the gorgeous Joby Ori — available for the iPad 2. But this is the only one we’ve seen that gives you all three functions — stand, keyboard and case — in one attractive package.

Photoshop Touch apps and SDK extend desktop functionality to iPad and other tablets — Engadget

Any discussion about Adobe and the iPad seems to always devolve into a Flash vs. HTML5 debate. For today at least, Adobes hoping to temporarily refocus the conversation on a trio of new tools that extend desktop Photoshop functionality to the iPad via native iOS apps. First up is Adobe Eazel, an iPad drawing app that lets you create a five-fingered painting on the iPad before transferring it back over WiFi to the Photoshop application running on your Mac or PC. Adobe Nav turns the iPad into a Photoshop companion device by extending live controls and menu bars from the Photoshop workspace to the iPads display.

Finally, theres Adobe Color Lava which turns the iPad into a hi-tech color mixing palette. Of course, these are just the first in what Adobe hopes to be a full range of Photoshop extensions hitting app stores just as soon as devs get their talents around Adobes Photoshop Touch programming tools consisting of a Photoshop scripting engine and enhanced SDK for Android, BlackBerry, and iOS devices available for Mac and Windows platforms today. Expect to see the Eazel, Color Lava, and Nav Photoshop Touch apps arrive next month — alongside the 5.5 update to Adobes Creative Suite and free Photoshop update for CS owners expected on May 3rd — with prices ranging from $1.99 to $4.99. Until

What “Free Public WiFi” Is and Why You Should Avoid It

free_public_wifi.pngcoffee shops, or other laptop-friendly spots for a while, and you’ll find “Free Public WiFi.” It never gets you through to the actual web, because it’s actually a weird Windows XP quirk—one you shouldn’t connect to.

Image via Defensive Computing/CNET News.

NPR explains that “Free Public WiFi” was never free, and never public, and not actually a Wi-Fi service. It likely started as a joke or prank, but then spread around the world because of a quirk in pre-SP 3 versions of Windows XP:

When a computer running an older version of XP can’t find any of its “favorite” wireless networks, it will automatically create an ad hoc network with the same name as the last one it connected to -– in this case, “Free Public WiFi.” Other computers within range of that new ad hoc network can see it, luring other users to connect. And who can resist the word “free?”

Most of the time, you’re probably okay if you accidentally hit “Connect” on Free Public WiFi, as you’re just trying to connect to a computer that’s unwittingly rebroadcasting its own inability to connect. But there could be occasion for someone with evil deeds in their heart to allow the connection and grab logins or other data from your connection, so try and block your system from ever connecting to “Free Public WiFi” in your network settings.

Beware of Fake Email due to breach on Epsilon Servers

The List Of Companies Affected by the Epsilon Breach Grows and Grows and Grows

Best Buy. J.P. Morgan Chase. Citibank. Walgreens. Disney. Barclay’s Bank. U.S. Bancorp. Marriott. Ritz Carlton. L.L. Bean. Home Shopping Network. TiVo.

If you’ve ever given your email address to any of the companies named above, then you’re probably among those who received a warning message today saying that your name and email address had been compromised as the result of an attack by an unknown party on the database of Epsilon, an email marketing firm owned by Alliance Data Systems. As I write this, I’m continuing to hear from people I know who are feeding me live updates on the companies, all of them apparently Epsilon clients, who are notifying their customers that their information has been taken. As of noon PT, people I know are saying they’ve received notifications from Hilton Hotels and Ethan Allen. The breach looks to be very similar to one seen late last year at Silverpop Systems. That one ensnared outfits as varied as deviantart, the Web image-sharing community; the drug store chain Walgreen’s; and the automaker Honda. This one, however, looks much bigger in terms of the number of customers affected.Shares in Alliance Data Systems, which is primarily known as a credit card payment processor%2

Kingdom Tower will make the Burj Khalifa look short, reach one mile up | DVICE

How high does a tower need to reach before it’s considered too high? If you think relaxing up on top of the Burj Khalifa’s At.mosphere won’t give you vertigo, try Saudi Arabia’s Kingdom Tower — a structure that will extend one mile upwards — almost twice the height of Dubai’s tallest.

Those Middle Eastern princes just can’t get enough of those insanely tall skyscrapers. Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal, head of Kingdom Holding Company recently gave his approval for construction of what will be billed as the world’s tallest man-made structure — the Kingdom Tower.

Designed by Adrian Smith, the Kingdom Tower will be built in Saudi Arabia’s city of Jeddah. The tower will stretch one mile up into heavens and include 12 million cubic feet of space, several stories of office space, several stories for a hotel and four tiers of residential space, with the upper most tier reserved for “alternative energy generation” solutions (perhaps including a pendulum to keep the entire tower from collapsing).

The Kingdom Tower project is so large that it’ll cost $30 billion to construct. To get to the top from the ground floor, an elevator ride would take an estimated 12 minutes to ascend.  click below for more

A Single Tweet Led to the Highest-Altitude Dance Party Ever

Kat Hannaford — Need proof of Twitters power? This heart-warming story is it. Of course, old school companies values such as KLM airlines willingness to help—and the Guinness book of world records keenness to always be where the action is were the deciding factors in todays lovely little tale of the worlds highest-altitude dance party. It all began when KLM airline announced theyd be doing direct flights from Amsterdam to Miami at the end of March, and Dutch DJ Seid van Riel and producer Wilco Jung replied, asking them to about the possibility of moving the flight one week ahead of schedule, so they could get to Miami for a music festival.Keen to help or grab some headlines, KLM replied with the daunting challenge—if they could find enough people to fill the plane to capacity, they would oblige by moving the inaugural flight forwards. Naturally the DJ and producer managed to find fellow passengers, and as you can see in the video below, the whole thing was documented by the press, and won them the Guinness record for the highest altitude dance party. The record to beat now stands at 10km above sea level. [Social-Times]

AVG Launches Dropbox Competitor LiveKive

Interesting. AVG, well known as a malware fighting company, is launching a competitor to Dropbox called LiveKive. Essentially it looks the same. Store your data with LiveKive and sync it and access it or share it from any device you’re using. LiveKive’s pricing structure offers you 5GB for free, 25GB for $49.99 or unlimited for $79.99.

Obviously there are other competitors for your cloud storing/syncing/sharing needs like SugarSync, Box.net, etc… but to say it is a crowded or a well defined market is probably premature. That said, the real question I have about LiveKive (and other Dropbox competitors) I have is will, or do they provide an API so that other Apps on mobile devices can take advantage of the files in the cloud.

Of course there is already an iOS App to access your LiveKive.

Fox news anchor tricked into licking iPad on air [video] | BGR

Look, we like the iPad just as much as the next person, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to go around licking it – in public, anyway. Raoul Martinez, a local Fox news anchor in San Diego, pulled off one of the funnier April Fool’s Day stunts we saw this year. Using an iPad app from Shock Top — the popular beer — Martinez managed to trick his co-anchor Shally Zomorodi into licking her iPad. Shock Top’s application promises that you can “smell” or “taste” the “satisfying flavor and aroma of Shock Top, a Belgian style wheat ale brewed with citrus peels and coriander spice.” Zomorodi fell for the prank — on air. Hit the jump for the video. Oh, and Shally, if you’re reading this, do the snozberries taste like snozberries?
