The Aero-X – Aerofex

Where you’re going, there are no roads. That’s why you need the Aero-X, a vehicle that makes low-altitude flight realistic and affordable. Flying up to 10 feet off the ground at 45 miles per hour, the Aero-X is unlike any vehicle you’ve seen. It’s a hovercraft that rides like a motorcycle – an off road vehicle that gets you off the ground.

The Aero-X can be adapted for unlimited outdoor uses: surveying, search and rescue, border patrol, disaster relief, aerial agricultural, ranching, and much more.

Or maybe you just want go out to the desert and fly.

Because the Aero-X is intuitive to fly, you can learn to operate it safely in just a weekend of training. It responds to your movements just as a motorcycle would. And it costs a fraction of even the most basic airplane or helicopter.   Maintenance is simple and inexpensive, as the Aero-X is built with very few moving parts and is powered by a reliable rotary engine.

Flight . . . easy, affordable, safe

Why will you fly? Reserve your Aero-X now.

65th Infantry Historia – Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal Alliance

The 65th Infantry Regiment prides itself on its long, rich tradition of military history, service, and achievements. Since the first shot of World War I which originated from “El Morro” San Juan, Puerto Rico, to the end of the Korean War, over 100,000 Borinqueneers have distinguished themselves as true American war heroes.  After all, the Borinqueneers’ motto is “Honor Et Fidelitas” which is Latin for “Honor And Fidelity”!

PRMOn May 19, 2014 the US Congress passed H.R.1726 to award a Congressional Gold Medal to the 65th Infantry Regiment, known as the Borinqueneers. This is especially special to me being that my grandfather Pedro Montalvo Ramos was Borinqueneer himself. In 1917 the US Congress granted citizenship to all Puerto Ricans and a month later Puerto Rican answered the call, and has not stopped since. Many not being of age to join lied to enlist in order to serve their Country, My grandfather being one of them. [STR]

“The Borinqueneers have served with distinction since 1899 as “Porto Rico Battalion of Volunteer Infantry then in 1908 redesignated “Porto Rico Regiment of Infantry, U.S. Army” and became a “Regular Army Regiment”. In 1920, re-designated “65th Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army” and served with distinction in every major US conflict since. Finally in 1959, transferred to the Puerto Rico Army National Guard where 1st Battalion, 65th Inf. still serves. Becoming the only unit from active-duty to transfer to the National Guard/Reserves. “Honor Et Fidelitas”  Via: www.borinqueneers.org

You Can Text 911 In an Emergency Starting Today

You can’t always call 911 when you need to, so starting today, you can send a text 911 in an emergency.

Announced by the FCC in 2012, the service goes live today for AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile. Using it is very straightforward. If you have an emergency, you simply text 911 with your emergency and your location, as you would if you were speaking to an operator. You have to state your physical address because, unlike with a voice call, call centers can’t triangulate your location.

The service is live right now in select cities and states right now. You can see the full list of where it applies here. If it isn’t available in your area, worry not—the FCC has laid out a timeline that requires text-to-911 to be rolled out everywhere by the end of 2014. You’ll also have the ability to send photos with your text, although that capability isn’t supported everywhere yet either. In any case, this is a very good thing, and one that will make getting help easier for a lot of people in an emergency. [FCC via Lifehacker]

The BioLite BaseCamp is a complete off-grid cooking and energy solution for groups, powered by wood. Using only fallen branches or small pieces of firewood, you can make wood-fired meals and charge your devices all at the same time. It’s a smart alternative to fossil-fueled stoves, creating an elevated cooking fire that burns smarter than any campfire you’re used to.

Over the past year, our team has been developing this product using feedback from our early BioLite customers, owners of the original BioLite CampStove. We’re here today to ask you to help us fund our first production run. We turn wood into electricity – we need your help to turn our newest product into reality.

The Most Common Languages Spoken in the U.S. After English and Spanish

What’s the language that the most Americans speak after English? As you’d probably guess, the second-most common language spoken in the U.S. is Spanish. But if you look at the most common languages after English and Spanish, the results get a little more surprising, especially when you parse them by state.Using data from the American Community Survey conducted by the Census Bureau, where respondents were asked to list the languages spoken in their household, Ben Bratt from Slate made maps of the most commonly spoken language in each state.

Little Girl Celebrates Beating Cancer With Katy Perry Music Video

Addy is a typical little girl — she loves chocolate chip ice cream, reading and Katy Perry.

But the 5-year-old Alexandria, Virginia resident has also dealt with some big challenges in her short life. Last year, doctors diagnosed Addy with stage IV kidney cancer. She successfully beat the disease, and, to celebrate, the Make-A-Wish foundation helped Addy star in her own music video.

Addy, complete with purple wig, dances and sings her way through an adorable version of Katy Perry’s “Roar.” She trades the original video’s jungle background for her pink bedroom.

You can show Addy a little lion love by tweeting with the hashtag #addyroar.

Dune buggies race on the verge of crashing in spectacular aerial video

What do you get when you combine huge horsepower buggies, Dubai sand dunes, and a camera drone? One spectacular video, that’s what.

With the engine mounted in the back, these powerful, lightweight buggies can pop a wheelie even while climbing a majorly steep hill. How do these sand stunters steer with their front wheels in the air? Serious dune buggies like these have “cutting brakes”, dual levers that control the brakes on either rear wheel. Wanna turn left while your front wheels are airborne? Give the left rear wheel a little stab of brakes and you’ll start arcing into a curve.

These drivers probably have sand up their sleeves, down their collars, in their underwear, and between their teeth. And they probably don’t care at all—they’re having too much fun to worry.
