These Biking Gloves Flash a Turn Signal To Keep You Safe While Riding at Night

These Biking Gloves Flash a Turn Signal To Keep You Safe While Riding at Night

Biking in the city can be dangerous. Not only can you get lost, but if you’re biking at night, you run the risk of colliding with cars, other bikes, and people, too. Though there’s an endless supply of reflector vests, jackets and ankle-straps on the market, Zackees LED gloves are particularly helpful for making you and your upcoming turns visible to everyone around you, by putting a blinking turn signal onto your hand.

The Kickstarter project, headed a former Google programmer/Burning Man enthusiast, is sweet and simple: A pair of biking gloves with arrow-shaped LED lights sewn into them. There’s a metal button placed on the outside of your index finger, so that you can easily press it with your thumb and signal which way you’re turning.

‘#SELFIE’ Is the Dance-Floor Anthem That the Instagram Generation Deserves

Every once in a great while, a song emerges to capture an era, a scene, a way of life. Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” defined grunge music in Seattle in the 1990s; “Stayin’ Alive,” and the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack from the Bee Gees, crystallized disco in the ’70s.

Now, the self-centered, social network-centric Internet era has its own defining jam: It’s called “#SELFIE,” and, yes, the hashtag is part of the title. The song, from New York City DJ duo The Chainsmokers, perfectly encapsulates the Instagram-obsessed, nightclub-hopping, selfie-posing twentysomethings who take over large swaths of New York, Los Angeles and other lounge-friendly metropolises on Friday and Saturday nights.

The United Arab Emirates government is in the process of testing a fleet of small, unpiloted flying drones designed to get official documents and packages like driver’s licenses, ID cards and permits into the hands of citizens.

According to a Reuters report, the plan is aimed at “upgrad[ing] government services,” although technological showmanship seems to be a motivator here as well. The world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, is in the UAE.

How to Be a Gentleman: 12 Timeless Tips | Lifehack

gentlemanSo you want to be a gentleman but don’t know where to start. Being a gentleman isn’t a personality quirk. It’s not something you turn on and off like a switch. It’s a lifestyle. Although it’s a reputation that’s hit the endangered species list, like my Ghostbusters sweatshirt, I’m hopeful it will make a comeback.

Being a gentleman revolves around one word: respect. It’s respect for yourself, those you care about, and those you want to care about.

Here are 12 timeless tips on how to be a gentleman that will enhance your life, both personally and professionally:

1. Define Your Personal Style

When I hear “gentleman” I think suit, tie, polished shoes… and stuffy. Seriously, I just fell asleep thinking about it.

Luckily, the definition has evolved and isn’t attached to a certain look anymore – it’s all about attitude and how you carry yourself. Choose a personal style that reflects your personality and lifestyle. Don’t buy clothes you think you should, otherwise you may as well wear a sandwich board that says I have no idea who I am! Continue reading

NASA is working on Star Trek healing devices—’it’s not sci-fi anymore’

NASA and Houston-based company GRoK Technologies will work on the development of new “breakthrough products,” noninvasive medical technologies designed to “regenerate bone and muscle tissues.” It really sounds like something out of Star Trek, but “it’s not just sci-fi anymore.”

That’s exactly what GRoK’s founder and CEO Moshe Kushman says:

It’s not just science fiction anymore. All indications are that 21st century life sciences will change dramatically during the next several decades, and GRoK is working to define the forefront of a new scientific wave.

According to the press release, NASA is “interested in the potential these technologies present for regenerating bone and muscle.” It wants this tissue regeneration technology to help astronauts during long interplanetary travel, when they “are susceptible to developing osteopenia, which is a condition arising from the loss of bone and muscle mass and bone density.” Continue reading
