Man Flies Like a Bird Flapping His Own Wings

I’m really amazed by this video, because I always dreamed about doing this. Watch Dutch mechanical engineer Jarno Smeets take off and fly just by flapping wings of his own invention—like a real bird! It’s uncanny.

PSA: Apple offering up to $320 if you trade in your iPad 2 in reuse and recycling program — Engadget

Eyeing the iPad 3, but have yet to take the pre-order plunge? Per The Next Web, your patience is about to be rewarded as Apples updated its Reuse and Recycling program, which means owners of iPad 2s in “good condition” can sling them back to their maker in exchange for an Apple Store gift card. How much the mothership will subsequently send back naturally varies on what iPad 2 youve got — ranging anywhere from $205 for the base 16GB WiFi model, all the way to $320 for the most capacious 64GB WiFi + 3G variant. Or you could try your luck with similar programs such as eBays Instant Sale or the one from Cupertinos tablet rival to the north. And would you look at that, weve even gone ahead and put links to all three just below.

Apple sells out of multiple AT&T iPad models already [updated]

A quick glance at Apple’s online store tells us that customers who want to place orders for an AT&T 4G iPad won’t be receiving them at the same time the iPad makes its debut. Shipping times have already fallen to March 19th from March 16th, something we all guessed would happen by the fact that Apple’s entire site and online store ground to a halt yesterday. Verizon 4G iPads will still be delivered on March 16th, though we believe that will change soon as well. Apple’s new iPad starts at $499 and will be available to purchase in stores on March 16th.

UPDATE: It looks like only 16GB and 64GB AT&T 4G iPads are sold out in white for the time being. The 32GB version will still ship for delivery on the 16th, as will each of the three models in black.

iPad gives autistic boy a “voice” at his Bar Mitzvah | iMore

“Matthew” is an autistic boy from Andover, Massachusetts, whose Bar Mitzvah — the Jewish Rite of Passage for 13 year old boys — was made possible thanks to Apple’s iPad. According to The Boston Globe, Matthew is on the severe end of the autistic spectrum; not able to speak complete sentences, write or read. What Matthew can do is touch icons on the iPad and put together complex thoughts and ideas with the help of touch technology.
