Skype announces Facebook to Facebook calling with new clients | The Verge
Back in July, Facebook rolled out integrated Skype calling for group chatting within the social network, and today, Skype has some news of its own. The company — which was purchased by Microsoft last May — is now debuting a new beta for both Mac and Windows which will allow you to make Facebook to Facebook calls from within the Skype client. The rollout includes Skype 5.4 Beta for Mac and Skype 5.7 Beta for Windows, and will allow you to connect your Skype account to your Facebook account, enabling a host of social features including calling, reading friends status updates, and instant messaging, all from within Skype itself. While Skype already has an instant messaging client of its own, it doesnt have the identifiable user-base that Facebook has, so the moves are sure to be welcome to Skype users. The upgraded Skype also brings group screensharing to the Windows client the Mac one already has it, and smoother video rendering to boot. The new Skype clients are available to download now.

Here’s What Last Night’s Occupy Wall Street Raid Looked Like Through Cellphones
Early this morning, Mayor Bloomberg had the NYPD clear out Zuccotti Park—the site for the Occupy Wall Street encampment—on the grounds that the protestors were, umm, really gross and posed a health risk.
A judge has since issued a temporary restraining order, saying that the city can’t keep the protestors and their tents out of the park, but not before a good many citizen journalists piled up loads of cellphone pics and footage. Here are some of the more striking images and videos to come out so far.

Leaked BlackBerry London is real, launching in Q3
We’ve just heard from a trusted source that the dummy device The Verge posted an image of earlier today is indeed a real BlackBerry, and it should in fact launch as the company’s first BBX-based smartphone. Our source told us that the BlackBerry Colt, the first QNX-based handset RIM had been working on that looked just like a smaller PlayBook, was scrapped in favor of the BlackBerry London. In terms of release timing, it’s looking like the London is slated to launch some time in the third quarter next year, possibly late in the quarter. Remember, RIM still has not been able to get BES or BBM working on BBX devices — probably the only two features BlackBerry phones are still known for these days — so launch details are anything but firm right now.

Apple iPhone 4S now available for $99… in Puerto Rico
purchase an unlocked iPhone 4S within the US officially, but folks in the outlying territory of Puerto Rico have some tempting options if they’ll go the long-term contractual route. The region’s division of carrier, Claro, is now selling the Siri-packed device starting at the low, low price of $99 for the 16GB model on-contract — those scared of commitment can also snag it unlocked, albeit for a slightly pricey $670 (which as 9to5Mac points out, is up $20 from Apple). The carrier also lists the 32 and 64GB variants as “expected soon,” marked to sell at $199 / $299 with a two-year commitment and $770 / $870 unlocked. Notably, you’ll have a choice of four monthly plans featuring unlimited talk and text ranging from about 65 to 85 bucks, with data allotments starting at 250MB and peaking at “unlimited.” Apparently, Claro isn’t offering the 4S for purchase online, but it does list a number of retail locations you can grab one from if you’re interested. You’ll find more details at the source link below.

Apple’s US online store begins selling unlocked, contract-free iPhone 4S: $649 and up — Engadget
You can’t expect to see one for “one to two weeks,” but those hellbent on holding out for an unlocked iPhone 4S here in the US of A can finally snag one without jetting off to Australia (among other places). Nearly five months to the day after Apple started selling the iPhone 4 in unlocked fashion in the States, the iPhone 4S is joining the club, with a 16GB model going for $649, a 32GB model for $749 and a 64GB variant for $849. Just so you’re aware, the unlocked phone enables you to use any micro-SIM from any GSM carrier worldwide, but it won’t play nice with CDMA carriers “such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint.” And yes, both the black and white versions are up for order. Hit the source link to part ways with your chosen amount of cash.

Congress Can Shove the Robocall Bill up Its Pork-Fed Ass
Since 1991, marketing robocalls in the US have been as tightly regulated as medicine, meth, and murder. But if HR 3035 makes its way through Congress, it’s going to be open season for the automatons to call your cellphone.
Do NOT let this happen.
